The Photonis HYPER-14 and HYPER-MUM replacement ruggedized chassis are the first step toward a rugged variant of a PVS-14 night vision device. The new rugged design can overcome most common causes of field-related failures. You are also capable of making your standard issue MUM NVD more rugged by replacing the core housing chassis with a HYPER-MUM night vision device upgrade chassis from Photonis.

AIRCRAFT GRADE ALUMINUM

The HYPER-MUM and HYPER-14 night vision device chassis upgrades provide superior protection from common causes of field failures, including recoil, shock, drop and intrusion from sand, water or dust incursion, while reinforced walls provide superior tube alignment even under harsh battlefield conditions. A new titanium lock ring offers a hard mount point, allowing the HYPER MUM to be used as a weapon sight on heavy caliber weapons.

DESIGNED FOR HARSH ENVIRONMENTS

The HYPER-MUM and HYPER-14 chassis are made of 76G 7000 series aluminum, far exceeding the environmental requirements of a standard MUM device. With reinforced heli-coil junctures, hard shoe mounting point, and a custom gasket seal to protect the electronics, the HYPER MUM can withstand significant stress and still provide superior night vision.

LEGACY SUPPORT

The HYPER-14 NVD updated rugged chassis supports legacy image tubes, J-arms, weapon mounts and batteries, but features reinforced heli-coil junctures to prevent stripping. Optical threads have been strengthened to support long range lenses for night vision observation or weapon sights.
